A love letter from director Royston Tan to the glittering Getai stage and performances. Two good friends grew up with genuine love for the Getai culture, a form of historical art with stage and song performance in Singapore. They form the Papayas, and become the most popular Getai duo of the country after being blessed by the Getai Goddess. However, the Durian Sisters, their main competitors are very jealous and are determined to sabotage their stage performances.
